All you need to know about the AIP diet
- 01The AIP diet aims to reduce inflammation from autoimmune disorders
- 02It focuses on healing the gut wall, or "leaky gut"
- 03More research is needed to confirm the diet's effectiveness
The AIP diet aims to reduce autoimmune symptoms by addressing gut health, but its effectiveness requires more scientific validation.
The autoimmune protocol (AIP) diet is designed to help reduce inflammation in the body to relieve symptoms of autoimmune disorders. But what can you eat on this diet and what evidence is there of the benefits? The study concludes that problems with the gut wall are associated with autoimmune diseases. This goes some way to support the idea of the "leaky gut" proposed by supporters of the AIP diet. However, the study adds that more research is needed to confirm that gut wall dysfunction is a primary risk factor in the development of inflammatory disease.
