Patricia Keely was a scientist and cancer expert and professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for 18 years. She passed away in June 2017, at the age of 54, after battling advanced pancreatic cancer.
Keely’s research focused on certain signaling events in cell differentiation and cancer. She discusses the role of mechanical signaling in regulating cell proliferation and describes the complex spectrum of different, simultaneously active, biochemical, structural, and mechanical stimuli that cells encounter in their microenvironment.
Keely conducted research on infrared spectroscopic imaging for prostate pathology practice and also on adhesion viability proliferation in colon cancer.
She was the recipient of the 2000 AACR-Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Career Development Award.
Patricia Keely was remembered as a scientist, mentor, friend, and inspiration to many
