Connective tissue is the continuous network of tissue that bind cells, tissues and organs together as a whole, gives shape, structure, tensegrity and serves for the tissue integrity. It is mainly made up of collagen fibers, and a fluid part, containing water and hyaluronic acid.
It is a heterogenous tissue and can be divided into loose connective tissue (adipose tissue and other soft padding tissue), supportive connective tissue (bone and cartilage), and fluid connectice tissue (blood and lymph).
