Mitochondria, known as the cells' powerhouses, play a central role in the repair and regeneration of cells.
New research shows that mitochondria are much more sensitive than previously thought, and the processes for cell repair and energy production are strongly associated with sunlight, not only during the day but also at sunrise and sunset.
It seems we are more biologically adapted to the natural circadian rhythm than we previously knew – but what does that mean for the body with our illuminated homes, bright screens, and our artificial circadian rhythm?
